Summer/Fall Tackle Football
Starting in late July, tackle football is offered for 10- to 13-year-olds, with teams being split based on age groups (peewee: 10/11-year-olds and junior bantam: 12/13-year-olds). Our teams compete against those from other VMFL clubs around the Lower Mainland (Vancouver to Langley). Practices start mid-July leading into pre-season tournaments in August and the regular season from September to early November. Playoffs take place in November.
Summer: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, then go to Tuesdays and Thursdays in September.
Many practices are held at Mercer Stadium.

February to June
Spring Flag Football
Spring flag football offers children ages 8 to 19 the opportunity to learn football skills in a non-contact, competitive 5-on-5 format. Teams are in age-group divisions (U10, U12 U14 U16 and U19) and compete in a league against other teams from around the Lower Mainland.
Start late February or early March and run Monday to Friday from 5 pm to 8pm. Each team will get two 1-to-2-hour practices on designated evenings during the week.
Elementary School Football Unit
In April, May, and June, the NWSS Hyack football program goes to schools in the district to teach a football unit. Our coaches are students in Douglas College’s Sports Science or Education programs and are also recent NWSS grads and aspiring teachers. They will run the units at each school with the assistance of school staff members.
These will be non-padded, non-contact sessions, focusing on basic fundamental skills. The priority will be to keep all the kids moving and having fun while learning and getting exposure to our sport. NWSS Hyack Football Club will provide all the equipment for this program to run.
Please check our events calendar for specific dates.
