Cheerleading
We are a volunteer based community cheer program. Main purpose of the program is to learn cheer chants with Level 1 Cheer Stunting and Tumbles to showcase skills and more importantly support our players and community through our voices and positive energy!
Our cheerleading program was started in 2011 and quickly emerged as a high-spirit integral part of the Hyack Football Family. Cheerleading teams are available for young people ages 6 to 14.
The Fall Cheer schedule starts in July to November consisting of 2 weekday practice days and 1 weekend game day (rain or shine) with 1 Cheer Competition in November.
The spring cheer program runs from March to June consisting of 1 weekday practice and attendance at community events. Our spring program allows athletes to build and maintain skills between the official VMFL cheer seasons.

Our teams compete against those from other VMFL clubs around the Lower Mainland (Vancouver to Langley). Practices start mid-July leading into pre-season tournaments in August and the regular season from September to early November. Playoffs take place in November.
Summer: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, then go to Tuesdays and Thursdays in September.
Many practices are held at Mercer Stadium.

Elementary School Football Unit
In April, May, and June, the NWSS Hyack football program goes to schools in the district to teach a football unit. Our coaches are students in Douglas College’s Sports Science or Education programs and are also recent NWSS grads and aspiring teachers. They will run the units at each school with the assistance of school staff members.
These will be non-padded, non-contact sessions, focusing on basic fundamental skills. The priority will be to keep all the kids moving and having fun while learning and getting exposure to our sport. NWSS Hyack Football Club will provide all the equipment for this program to run.
Please check our events calendar for specific dates.
